The Taunts From Crowd Below Caused A Teenager To His Death

What will a sane, compassionate human being do when he sees a person poised at the edge of rooftop ready to commit suicide. Obvious answer will be first shock next reaction ought to be to think a way out to save his life.

But not so with the youths who were watching from the ground the efforts of police Detective Barry Thacker and his colleagues to dissuade 17 years old Shaun Dykes in a car park roof in Derby.

The suicidal youth was been reengaged with the police to take off his mind the idea of jumping 60 feet down. He was depressed at being separated from his boyfriend five days ago and was staying with his grandmother at Kilburn Derbyshire.

The police thought they had succeeded in saving Shaun but then some youths watching the whole incident from the ground starting taunting telling Shaun to jump, and go for it and the last straw was when someone called out You’re wasting taxpayers money and Shaun muttered it has gone too far, counted till ten, ignored the helping hand of the policeman and jumped 60feet down killing himself immediately.

The inhumane, despicable crowd then took pictures of him falling to his death on their mobiles which were later posted on you tube.

It seems that in today’s materialistic world one is loosing the real perspective of life. The lack of humanity or human compassion which is becoming a fast disappearing commodity especially in our youth is matter of grave concern.

To taunt a troubled person of their own age group so much so that he kills himself clearly shows something has gone severely wrong and if it is not corrected immediately such insensitive humans will take over our beautiful world, destroying it completely.

Yes the incident took place on 27th September but the inquest is going on and the Assistant deputy Coroner for Derby Louise Pinder recorded a verdict for suicide but also condemned the behaviour of those despicable people who tormented Shaun. She called them insensitive with apparently no concern for a human being safety.
It is this insensitive attitude which I wanted to share.
