It is strange, weird and absurd.

Rameshwar Mahto is 70 year old .He has been married to Soni Devi for last 10 years,Now Soni is only 22 years old.Her parents being very poor married her off to than 60 year old Rameshwar of Kathkumdag’s block Salgawan village when she was only 11 year old. During the ten years Soni has been married she has borne 3 children.

What is weird about it you must be wondering.Well since Rameshwar being very old he was unable to earn and look after his family.Soni stepped in and started working as NREGA worker she had to feed her family as they were living in abject poverty.So what is new?

At the NREGA Soni met Sunil a 28 year old NREGA worker. As he had nowhere to live Soni brought him home.It was a matter of love at first sight. They developed physical intimacy and Soni became mother for the fourth time only this time Sunil was the father.

Now Rameshwar has consented to the marriage between Soni and Sunil. They were supposed to be married today with his blessings.

Practical minded villagers are calling it a wise decision on behalf of Rameshwar,as being so old he has made provision for his whole family. Was he being concerned,magnanimous or simply helpless,one is unable to decide?
