Abida Bibi the wife of a laborer in Layyah near Lahore, Pakistan, accused two men for raping her claiming that in 2008 when her husband was away four men had entered her house forcibly and two of them had raped her.

After judicial inquiry it was found that Abida Bibi has falsely levelled an allegation of “Zina” that is forcible fornication against those two men so she was guilty under the provision of Hudood Ordinance, the qazi or false accusation of fornication.

The sessions court has “awarded” 40 lashes and two years of rigorous imprisonment as her punishment.
