Jan Nisar is only 13, but not a normal 13 year old teenager interested in latest downloads in songs or video games and other branded stuff. He is hearing and speech impaired, that is not all he stays in a remote village Dhanduka and travels daily to Gandhigram which is 120 Km away.
First this gritty boy travels by train than walk down to his school and when the school is over he repeats the same journey that means the frail little boy travels 240 Km per day just because he wants to go to best school for the Deaf and Dumb he studies in class IV.
When this report came in the newspaper there were so many good samaritans even from far off US who wanted to offer help either monetary or in kind.
The Director of State Social Welfare Department Mr. Vanjara immediately offered Jan Nissar hostel accommodation in the school in which he studies and agreed to bear the expenses. But as Jan Nisar did not want to go to hostel offered him railway expenses. There were offers from people who were ready to bear the expenses of his education.
So far so good, but Jan Nisar the humble boy turned down every offer of help very politely. As per him as he is handicapped Rail journey is free for him and as he is an outstanding student, a topper in fact, he gets scholarship so his studies are free.
There was another offer where a pharmaceutical company wanted to give him two battery operated cycle one to reach station from his home another to reach school from Gandhidham station. Jan Nisar refused he preferred walking.
This boy has shown true fighting spirit and he wants to reach the top on his own. May God help him in every step. Will some of our esteemed politicians and officials whose only aim in life is to accrue as much wealth by hook and crook learn something from Jan Nisar?
