Kelly Marley Pocock 24, from Merthyr Wales from South Wales, a mother who just did not care much about the bad effects of smoking. She just let her son, three year old, to smoke a cigarette butt near her while she was busy talking on the phone.

The whole incident was filmed by her friend Natasha Dudley in December 2007 on her mobile phone. Actually Natasha found the child smoking under the bed before also, so she prepared a video to submit to the social services.

As per Jonathan Rees attorney for the prosecution, the video clearly shows that the child was familiar about smoking a cigarette, placing it in his mouth, lighting it with a lighter, and sucking, drawing smoke in his lungs without any discomfort. It was obvious that he knew what to do with a cigarette and a lighter.

She pleaded innocence and claimed that she was shocked by the incident which she did not see because she was busy on the phone.

Kelly who has two other children pleaded guilty and was given a 40 week suspended sentence and a year supervision order.

As per the video it is clear that the child was not checked when he first played with a cigarette butt, may be it was just a minor thing for his mother. A three year old child does not know what is good and what is bad for him, this decision has to be taken by his parents and one thing is clear that this mother failed in fulfilling her responsibility.
