Same News - Newspapers Give Different Versions

The news is about a couple in love who were found dead in a park in Ram Manohar park in Ghaziabad. They were having affair since a long time They got married against their parents wishes on 31st August but were staying with their own parents. Till here the news is same but after this two different newspapers are giving two different versions of the incident.

As per one Alok Singh used a country made pistol to shoot Rachna in the chest and than himself in the head. They had a tiff and in a fit of rage Singh killed Rachna and than himself. There is also details about how the couple went to the park, and were sitting under a tree when they started arguing. Alok was even seen pushing Rachna many times and ultimately shot her. His pistol had two bullets and one was found in his pocket.

Now another newspaper is giving a totally different version. The parents of the couple are accusing each other for the deaths. Alok had gone to fill his examination form as per his father. The girl’s father forced the two to file divorce affidavits in court. He said that his son has been murdered.

The girl’s parents are saying that both their daughter and the family were looking forward to a marriage proposal and the prospective groom’s family was to visit their house next week. As per them The father and mother of the girl had gone for a medical check up and their daughter was alone in the house. She had been killed by the boy’s relatives. The details given in the other newspaper are not mentioned clearly.

It is but natural for the grief stricken families to accuse each other but to give an impartial version that is the role of the media, isn’t it?

Let the news be confirmed from different sources. But yes, media should make sure that they print the correct news after collecting the accurate information. And not just write what they feel like.

That is why the newspapers are losing their pristine credibility. Gays are gone when ”facts are sacred” used to be the mantra of newspapers’ reporting.Little wonder, the print media is no longer is profit earning industry.

Newspapers are more interested in creating a good ”masala item”rather than being bothered about facts.
