Anil is 20 years old, a mature person, old enough to know about the consequences of his actions. But perhaps not old enough to control his lust, thinking that may be he has the right to rape not one but two minor sisters whose ages are seven and eight years old respectively even their total age which comes to fifteen is younger than his age.

Anil was a regular visitor to the home of daily labourers who trusted him why else they would allow him to visit their home. On Saturday while the parents of these two sisters were away for work, he gave them Rs.5/- each and raped them saying he was doing it on their mother’s instruction. he also gave Rs5/- to their five year old brother perhaps to shut his mouth and send him away while he raped his sisters.

This incident took place in a sleepy hamlet of Jamtha which is 15kms away from Nagpur. The parents when they came home found that their world had turned topsy-turvy. The matter was reported to the police and the culprit is under arrest.

Why are such incidents taking place and shockingly the numbers are multiplying. I think poverty combined with illiteracy is a lethal combination. The only thing which seems to be clear from the above horrifying incident that Anil knew that even a petty amount like Rs.5/- was enough to lure the poor girls and that when the family is poor any depraved person can spoil the lives of girls of that family.

Poor babies, how can a 20 year old force himself on 7 and 8 year old girls. One shudders at the thought of physical and mental pain they must have gone through.
