Funny the way yesteryears imminient personalities are reacting . When ever you switch on the TV your optical organs are in for a treat in the form of razzle and dazzle of that very fake show Rakhi’s- every channel is trying to cash in the aftermath glow of the most artificial show and some enterprising ones are planning to bring in another one of the same genre ,this time it will be Rahul Mahajan who wil be choosing his second wife via the same route, the same Rahul who was the main crowd puller of Big Boss 2.
Now I am rambling aimlessly away from my main issue. I saw a very sick ,old man who was unable to walk on his own and took ten minutes just to get out of his car helped by two pairs of security gaurds, than he took fumbling steps all the time held on both sides by aides and reached the lobby of Rajya Sabha in nearly 20 minutes. He had this totally lost expresion on his face, not exactly comprehending where he was and what he had to do, the only fit place for him was his bed and all the attention of a trained medical staff.
He was the yesteryears’Firebrand leader George Fernandis now 79 years old.He was known for his revolutionary and radical thinking and was capable of taking tough decisions which had caused the turn of tide in past but now he is a pale and sick reflection of his glowing past, yet he was sworn in as a Rajya Sabha member. He is now too ill to care about anything except his health but vested interests had prodded him on to first fight the election as an independent candidate and lost miserably. Now he has been inducted in Rajya Sabha, what role will he be able to play is a something which anyone can see and that is a complete zero.
Why do we have to go on rewarding politicians who are so unfit that they are unable to participate in their everyday routine chores leave aside taking care of political health.
This is in a stark contrast with the other international leaders like the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin who is extremely fit and have an adventurous streak like diving in the deepest lake, climbing mountains, trees, ready to take risks. Obviously this streak will reflect on his decision making ability when it comes to take tough decisions for the development of his country.
Even young at heart French President Nicholas Sarkozy is not exactly a confidence builder but at least no one has any doubts that if such leaders take any decisions at it it their own and that their hands are not made to sign on any paper which they are unable to read leave aside understand in their present state.

I hope and wish that your write triggers an intrispection spree amongst politicians to think of retiring at a proper age and quit public life once their mental and physical faculties bid them good bye
No doubt the politicians should retire at proper age but that age limit can't be fixed mechanically. Let them work till their body and mind allows them.
