Raped By A Cricket Team!

India :

Yes, it is not a line from a sleazy novel, it is as horrifying and unfortunately as true as it is written. MBA student was returning from a mall in the busy section of Noida, Delhi, not even some isolated place. It was 5 o’clock in the evening not even dark. She was in the car with her friend and driving back home, everything was so normal.

Raped By A Cricket Team!

Suddenly they were overtaken by some ten people on motorbikes. Everyone was carrying the bats and wickets of cricket, they were returning from playing a match in the neighborhood village. They must have lost the match because being in that depressed state on mind they just surrounded the car, stopped the car forcefully and entered the car.

They forced the girl and her friend to go to the back seat and one of them drove the car to a secluded place nearby. Mind you all this happened on a busy road where many vehicles were passing but no one bothered or cared enough to stop them nor to inform the police.

After taking the car to an isolated spot, the girl’s friend was dragged out of the car and one of the men stood guard armed with a cricket bat while the girl who was left behind was raped by ten people one after the other, like a war prisoner punished by the victorious army. The team fled after taking with them the cellphones of the duo.

What is even more shocking that the time and place were not very late nor isolated. The girl was in the car and there is no news of any such confrontation between the boys and the girl or her friend. No one can say as in some cases there are comments that girls dressing provocatively leads to such behavior, because in January Delhi is cold and obviously the girl must have been dressed accordingly.

As per the statements of the culprits it was a spur of the moment act, they did not knew the girl so it was not any revenge rigmarole.

For a spur of the moment act they became savages, barbarians. They forgot all about the consequences of their act, the normal life of the girl was destroyed forever.

Out of the ten not even one showed even a tiny bit of compassion or gave a thought about their barbaric act, not even one thought about their families about their mothers, sisters and other females.

For a spur of the moment act they have destroyed their own families along with that of the victim For this heinous crime they should be punished accordingly.

And it is said that cricket is gentlemen s’ game, is it really? Behavior of such cricketers, at least do not endorse it.

Highly heinous. They all should be castrated publically and made to lead a life worse than a death.

”No one can say as in some cases there are comments that girls dressing provocatively leads to such behavior, because in January Delhi is cold and obviously the girl must have been dressed accordingly.” So sad that that we, as women, even have to qualify our comments with statements like this. Granted, I have seen some girls in the U.S. dress so indecently that you could see why some sick pervert might be tempted. But it is up to the male to control his urges, otherwise he is nothing but an animal, which seems to be the case with these cricketers.

Very sad.

I must say that the prime minister of India should pay personal attention to this act of brutality and ribaldry. This crime is more intense than any terrorit attack. Life imprisonment should be ordered for all the rapists and the victim should be given to quality care and psychological therapy to make her healing possible. I also suggest that we IB members should write personalized e-mails of protest to the high officials of Delhi and ask them to track the rapists and put them to justice.

Guess what?? the parents of these rapists have issued statements that it is not a big deal, if the girl was raped!! According to them, the girl must have in some way angered the boys!

I have just one word for these parents! - ”Atrocious”

Megha, have all the rapists been arrested already? If their parents say, ’it’s not a big deal’, then they are partners in crime and must be punished accordingly for encouraging sexual violence.

Yes, I guess so. Exactly. Parents like these are majorly responsible for the ill-minded mentality of kids. Imagine, a son coming hime and telling his father that he rapeda girl in broad daylight and the father telling in response that ”Wow! Son, you did a great deed”. I think that these parents should be punished first!

Chill Sanwali :-)

We all are aware that women in villages have less to say in these matters. Even, if she felt outraged at her son’s act, she would never be able to raise her voice against the menfolk of the family! Sad! Women are still weak and made to feel inferior in today’s times also.

No Megha, Sorry but you are wrong here. Unfortunately this statement is made by one of the rapist’s mother. I had confirmed this.

I swear, i feel like killing this lady.

Thanks Sanwali

Actually, i read the article in Hindustantimes.com, which just mentions that ”Parents” of the accused have said this statement! If their mother have issued the statement, then she deserves not to be called as a lady also. How can a lady justify such an act of barbarism with a girl! No wonder, our country is not developing sill in terms of open mindedness!! SAD! Very SAD!!!

Hi Incogito

Sadly, this is the true face of our society. Though we loudly cry over our voice that women have developed a niche for themselves, the condition truly stands opposite!! Even if a crime is committed against a women, she is only held guilty!! Male chauvenism!!!!

Male chauvinism will never come to an end...NOTHING’S GONNA CHANGE.

@Rajni

It has a lesser connection with male chauvinism. The act is by-product of distorted values of distorted times wherein a woman is simply a sex-object.It’s also a reflection of a times wherein use ’n’ throw is the most natural phenomenon.

Exactly! This incident would also be forgotten like other incidents! And we alll will also forget this incident in the coming days! Just like the Nithari case, AArushi’s case and many others!

The need of the hour is that these bastards (Sorry for the use of filthy language on a public platform like this) sould be hanged in front of their families.

With due respect, when you say ”Exactly! This incident would also be forgotten like other incidents! And we alll will also forget this incident in the coming days! Just like the Nithari case, AArushi’s case and many others!” have you done something about this. It is easy to show your anger and spill out suggestions and blame others, but what have you personally done about this???

Hi anant

When I say that ” we all will forget...” I include myself also. I am not blaming others. In fact I am including myself also in the crime. What I wanted to say was that self-realization is very much needed to take some action against these gruesome crimes.

New Delhi and the adjoining area is unsafe for women. It has become more or less a routine for rape stories there.......But, the concerned authority is not taking care of the matter.....Authority of women’s safety
should be handed over to private authorities.....no doubt they will charge money....but at least we can hope for a secured city.

Well I too agree that all ten of them should be hanged that too at the same place where this incident happened. But by venting out the anger and giving suggestions are we doing any good?? No, we are not, if the govt. of UP and delhi or India is overlooking these matters or working like a snail, then I think we should take some concrete steps, involve people and do something constructive against it. We gotta protect the women COME WHAT MAY.

This is the problem of our country..Rapes,murders,kidnaps,all happen like a daily routine thing and the government is busy preparing for the elections..Damn! And where the f**k is the police...Ok you cannot provide policeman in each corner but atleast one officer every 500 metres...Ah,I forgot they are there for the security of the ministers..500 policemen every metre...The ministers will come to action only when someone their own suffers,I dont hope it happens but if this is the way they will learn then it should..We cannot afford to live in fear...

First of all I would like to thank all of you for being so passionately involved. It is very serious matter.
I think it is high time that instead of being dependent on an useless government we should take steps ourselves to protect us. Forewarned is forearmed. In Delhi here are workshops organised by the Delhi Police for the training of self defense to women.Pepper spray is a very deterrent.
We should have emergency contact numbers handy just in case.
It should be joint effort by all of us otherwise as rightly commented we will forget this incident also as we forgot so many others.
And yes,in my other article Rapists’Mothers refuse to accept that their sons are guilty it was the mothers who blamed the girl for being raped.tragedy is sometimes women is women’s worst foe.

www.petitiononline.com has free petitions you can create.. but just read the following on snopes.com that seems to think those kinds of petitions are useless.  http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/petition/internet.asp  You’d probably do better writing letters to the editors etc. Good luck!
