Strange, but true! I have reached that stage that when I watch a movie I would like to get something in return, it may be a good laugh, any point which makes me think or the special effects should be so special that they should create an impact on my mind. Nothing like watch it forget it type.
Ramchand Pakistani comes in the second category. A simple story, dealing with life’s everyday problems, those belonging to the border area the divide between the two countries and its problems are, as common place as blueline woes in the capital.
A seven year old boy Ramcahnd Pakistani strays in Pakistan and held there, the distraught father also crosses the border and is caught. The poor mother is left behind a role well portrayed by Nandita Das.
The jailed father and son duo has to face hostile and cruel circumstances, but when left to their own the common man forgets the political teachings drummed into his head and behaves like a normal human being, the hostility is changed into camaradarie. This point is driven home by Maia Wasti a cruel and diehard Pakistani cop who tutors the boy in spite of hating every thing Indian.
This is the gist of the movie and perhaps a very complex message given in a very simple manner,
“Stop politicizing the common man and the problems created by politics can be solved without any blood bath.”
