I always thought that God was One. Only different people worshiped him differently and gave him different names. The way of worship can be different but in every religion the wishes, the problems and the aspirations of worshipers are same, same as those belonging to different religion.

Obviously I am wrong and so was Alison Phillips, a teacher in England. She, to demonstrate other methods of worship made her 11 year old pupils to kneel and pray to ‘Allah” during a religion education class. It was alleged that she gave two students detention when they refused to do so.

This incidence was supposed to have taken place last July in Alsager High School near Stoke-of-Trent. The parents raised a hue and cry calling it a breach of Human rights of their children. As per them their boys should not have been forced to take part in the practical demonstration.

Now comes the best part. The authorities of the school took immediate action and suspended Alison, the teacher. After a lengthy inquiry they finally dismissed the teacher but also said in their final report that they were totally satisfied that at no point did this member of staff made pupils pray to ‘Allah” or sent any one to detention for not doing so.In fact what she did was a role play which comes under acceptable practice.

If the teacher is not guilty and did what was acceptable one wonders why on earth was she dismissed?
