The Cricket Association of Bengal might be getting a new president in near future and he might be none other than the former Indian captain, Sourav Ganguly our very own ‘Dada’.
Interestingly he will be fighting his one time mentor, former ICC and BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya. Sourav is being pressurized by anti Dalmiya lobby to contest this election as they will be supporting him. As per Indranath Dey a senior vice president of CAB has confirmed that they have been trying to bring in Ganguly and even he is considering this proposal giving it top priority.
Obviously there is an anti Dalmiya lobby who wants change at the helm to get benefits of association CAB deserves and with replacement done at the earliest they want to better their relations with the board.
Dalmiya has weathered such storms in 2006 when he was challenged by the Police Commissioner of Kolkatta, Prasun Mukerjee, with the backing of Chief Minister Buddhasaheb, but Prasun lost by a slender margin of just five votes.
People in the know think that change may come but not before 2011. But this time Jagmohan Dalmiya will be facing a stiff competition from Sourav as he is a formidable opponent in every respect.Dalmiya may have to pray to Gods for support either way because if God forbid Sourav looses his fans may create havoc and have the capability to make life really miserable for Dalmiya.
