Orphaned Once Again
First of all I am grateful to Shahwar, She gave the necessary impetus to write this article.

When 20 yer old Rajni Majhi, a 20 year old student who lived in an orphanage in Orissa and was also helping the sisters there was burnt to death on 25 th August,I wrote this poem. The reasons, political, religious whatever they may be do not empower any one to inflict such pain and sufferings on any other human being and if I am able to convey even an iota of pain suffered by the victims ,my tiny effort will be successful.

ORPHANED ONCE AGAIN
————————
I was fast asleep,
on that fateful day,
dreaming my mom was coming,
she was on her way.

I woke up with a start
there was lots of noise,
everyone was running about,
“Kill them,” said an angry voice

Please spare the children,
the one caring for us was pleading,
she rushed to shut the door,
I saw she was hurt and bleeding.

Suddenly a scream and this silence,
nothing was left to hear,
Somehow I knew she was no more,
my heart was full of fear.

Why, God, Why did it happen,
I was crying out in vain,
Jesus, I did nothing wrong,
Yet I was orphaned once again.

ishwar allah tero naam sabko sanmati de bhagwan
god may have many names but is one & the same let this wisdom be granted to his worshipers who are always on each other’s throat in the battle of supremacy

Muslims don’t agree that Ishwar and Allah are same. Only Hindu writers, politicians, commentators and ignorant say so. As far as Christians are concerned; read Jesuit oath. It’s available on internet too.

When you go to Goa, visit the ”Hath Kaatri Khamb”. It is called so because during Portugese rule, Hindus not accepting Christianity were tied to the pillar and were punished with chopping off of their hands for their crime to remain Hindus.

My thanks, Veena, for yet another enormously tiny article and effort. This is splendid, just as your page is splendid. Horrible incident, the likes of which are difficult to surpass...

i do not wish to criticise any one religion lies in personal domain & a kind of mental therapy to balance one self
if the number of sane persons keep increasing then in sane ones will have to retreat

”I read ten minutes ago of another horrible ”event” here that will no doubt throw petrol on the fire again. I am finishing this comment to go and write about it”.

Do you remember this response to one of your comments? So I wrote it, and then came here to see your new article, and the coincidence was stupifying!!

Veena, that’s VERY strange.....

Micheal, it is a real, emotional coincidence, because I wanted to write this long ago but I have no idea why did I waited so long and wrote this today.
But the truth is both incidents are horrible, to be burnt alive ,I just hope their sufferings ended soon.
Just the indifference of proper authorities led to this.

Rameshji, whatever religious beliefs are, there is no way one can condone such sufferings of innocents. Why should they be the sacrifical lamb on the alter of misplaced religious fanatism, and I mean both sides.

I have not condoned the killings nor justified it. I have just stated the reasons as I feel. I may be wrong.

The reasons for my statements are that I have seen worst; and by now I am stone.
