It was heartening to read in the newspaper about a Can-Can group whih is comprised of grannies,yes “10 Grannies” with age staring from 61 years.
It is Czech group who give one to three shows a week, they all belong to the rural Poland and the oldest is 71. They wear belle dresses showing their ample forms. Their shows are comical not vulgar and the real proof of their popularity is that they are booked till 2009.
You must be thinking what is the relevance. Well, once any Indian lady reaches a certain age she is automatically relegated to the background.Everyone expects that she should now be religiously inclined and forget all about her other hobbies. The moment any enterprising female try to break through,immediately her own family reins her in.
Don’t you think it is now high time to change our mindset. Why should old people especially ladies forced to lead a life which is acceptable to the society,Why they are pulled back if they try to follow their own heart?
It is reading about the openness of the society for the senior citizens in western countries brings to my mind the state of our senior citizens.
No need to go to the extreme and form a Can-Can group but common groups with common interests and aims can also started here.
