Daughters are loving, understanding and caring, right? Wrong as everywhere here also there are exceptions. Daughters can be mean, selfish and greedy and they can take, take and take going to any extent to satisfy their greed.
Take the case of 72 year old Vijay Merchant of Mumbai blessed with two daughters and a son all grown ups and settled, he must not have felt so helpless when he lost his wife. But now he is forced to spend his nights on pavements or at the Mumbai Central Railway platform. Reason, well his darling daughter has thrown him out of his own house, a cosy room at the decreptic Radha Building at Girgaum.
The fatherly love which he showered on his daughter Harsha when she was left by her husband and giving her shelter seemed to have backfired. When he returned home after a two day visit to his son’s place he found his room white washed and all his belongings thrown out.His room was let out by his own daughter claiming that now she was the owner.
She also claimed that she had been looking after her Father for a long period now and it should be done by her other siblings His other daughter and son, well they seem to be least interested in the plight of their old father, no time for legal hassles you see, in fact the loving son suggested that his father should now shift to an Home for the Aged.
All this despite of the fact that Mr. Merchant is still working at a Travel Agency but for last two months his routine has been changed, instead of coming home he first works at the Agency and in the evening he does the rounds of Police Station in the hope that may be they could provide him some relief under the much touted new law Maintenance and Welfare of parents and Senior Citizens Act 2007, which not only put the onus of care of the elderly on their children but also seeks to protect their life and property.
There is no positive response from either the NGO and the Police. Maybe the Act was passed by the Maharashtra Government only in February so perhaps giving credit to the red tapism of the Indian Bureaucracy it failed to reach those officials who are responsible to take action.
Also why blame the red tapism it seems that the culture of only rights and no duties has been imbibed by the offsprings of this particular family.
Only Privileges with no strings attached seems to be the motto here
What goes around, comes around, unless you know how he treated his kids, you can’t assume that he is not getting what he deserved.
But here, its just one belief...if they are your biological mother and father you have to look after them...no one cares about the other side of the coin.
But, how come not any one of the siblings ready to take the father voluntarily? Something wrong with the old person?
I agree with you that one should look at all sides. But don’t you think society is biased when it comes to the opposite? I mean, when a woman has alleged that she was a victim of DV, you guys never look from the husband’s point of view and that this lady must be lying. So, before you blame others of being biased and not looking from another angle, look at yourself. How unbiased are you?
Another point. Even if we assume that the father is not good, the daughter has no right to kick him out of his own house. There can be no defence for such an illegal act.
Dowry is banned? What do you think by banning the dowry it has come to an end. The reality is that the dowry system prevails more in the urban areas where the people have paying capacity. People of rural areas imitate the urban. In the rural areas they don't have capacity to give so many items as dowry and here starts the problem.
It is a question mark, it is found at the end of a question not at the end of a statement.
You didn’t answer any of those questions. You are just ranting as usual.
Just because some people violate the law, it does not justify the daughter kicking out the father. Nor does it imply that sons have to take responsibility for parents. Be clear about what is right and what is wrong. If you say that dowry menace is prevalent and hence sons should continue to take all responsibilities, and that daughters should not, you are indirectly supporting dowry. Illegal things keep happening the time. That does not mean that another illegal thing should happen because of that.
”You didn’t answer any of those questions. You are just ranting as usual.”————————–
You are such a typical feminist. You have answered all the questions yourself by asking them. Not that I support your answers.
And, I have given my answers already but your feminism has made you blind to see the truth.

Never mind that the son was equally responsible and in an even better position financially to care for the father. Of course it was the feminazis who were somehow responsible. You have a 1 track mind, and it is tiresome, not to mention that is also the main trait of autism, its creepy.

You feminists are now criminals as you support women criminals to meet your selfish and criminal intentions. The old man was employed in a travel firm and didn’t need to be looked after. And the house is owned by the old man as stated by the husband of the second daughter who don’t mind looking after him. SO YOU FEMINIAZIS HAVE STARTED SUPPORTING CRIMINAL WOMEN WHO THROW OUT THEIR FATHERS OUT OF THEIR OWN HOUSE! THIS IS GETTING REALLY NASTY! YOU ARE WORSE THAN THE TALIBANS.
Why it happens that in majority of such cases it is the children who ill treat their elderly parents, you never read about any parent giving up on their kids. They are there to take care of their children like Mr. Merchant did when he took in Harsha when her husband left her. I agree that perhaps the old father may not be an ideal person to live with but when nearly all parents adjust with their not at all ideal offsprings it is the least any child can do for his parent. To support him in his time of need.
”Merchant’s second daughter Warsha’s husband, H Pandey, said the property deed clearly gave Merchant a right to stay in the flat.”
When women do whatever dirty things why are you supporting it? I saw you shitting when a girl killed her own mother. Every criminal has a reason for his/her crime; But what matter is Human rights and Civil rights which takes precedence over women’s/criminal’s rights. She has done a breach of civil procedures and should be punished.
””I took care of him for so long, but I am single-handedly bringing up two children and can’t afford to look after him.”
How much is a woman supposed take before she breaks? How was she supposed to do it all alone? Her brother and sister are equally libel, why didn’t they help her in those 6 years? Why do you only blame her? Oh, that’s right, you don’t care how much women suffer, it is a woman’s duty to suffer...right?
”I am just saying that when you don’t know the whole story, you have to wonder what would cause a person to stop loving their parent.”————————————when a woman commits a crime, you want to support her and sympathise with her saying that ”we don’t know the whole story”. But when a man commits a crime against a woman, you already know the whole story and believe the allegations the woman makes. IS THIS FAIR? AND LOOK AT THE DOUBLE STANDARDS YOU HAVE.

The old man was working in a travel agency and needed nobody to take care of except emotionally. You have believed the daughter’s words without ever looking at what the second daughter’s husband has stated. They have said that the house belongs to the old man and they are ready to look after him. The old man has said that he just needs a shelter above his head and nothing more. What more do you want? You want to support elder abuse! That is what you are doing. You want women to be above the law! You want to support women criminals just because they are women! Bah!! Feminazis!
”When contacted, Harsha said that her father had been making false allegations. She told TOI that the house was hers, and that he had no rights over it. ”I took care of him for so long, but I am single-handedly bringing up two children and can’t afford to look after him. He had started bringing women over and was even talking of getting married again,’’ she said. Claiming that Merchant would harass her, Harsha said her other siblings, too, had a responsibility towards him. But the family is divided over the matter. ”

There is no justification for kicking out a helpless old man from his own house. This is a perfect example of women empowerment. The police should kick this women out and let this old man live in his own house peacefully for the rest of his days.
Women are doing gross injustice towards the elders in India. This has been acknowledged by World Health Organisation as well.
Elder Abuse in India - World Health Organization Report

The old man is working in a travel firm and needs no financial support. The old man has clearly stated it. The husband of the second daughter has clearly stated that the house belongs to the old man. I can tell you that to own a house in Mumbai, one needs to be a millionaire. It is highly unlikely that a daughter with two kids to look after could be owning that house and an old father who has earned all his life could not be owning that house. The old man must have put in enough resources of his lifetime to own his place. The young daughter simply does not have the resources to own the house.
This story that you have posted here is full of contradictions. 1. The old man is employed already and doesn’t need to be taken care of. 2. The old man himself has clearly stated it. 3. It is highly unlikely that the house belongs to the daughter who has probably earned a pittance when compared to the old man who has worked for a lifetime. Property rates in Mumbai are at the peak and young people cannot afford it. 4. The husband of the second daughter has confirmed the ownership of the property. 5. The second daughter is ready to take care of her father.
The problem is that you don’t suspect the authenticity of a story when a man is involved in a crime. But the minute a woman is involved, you start talking about the gaps in the story. I must tell you that in Mumbai, people either live in apartments, or rooms, or in shanties. The minority of people live in houses and they are the rich people. So, it is obviously not a house. But Indian media are never give importance to such accurate reporting. All I can see is that the man has been thrown out! About somebody to look after him, any old person needs care and attention. Its not just in terms of money. And, breaking a lock and getting in is not easy. The place where he was staying is being let out to another person now and he obviously has no strength to get it unlocked. Indian police are not as civilized as to look at the property papers and decide the matter. They ask for bribes from both sides and the one who gives more gets his way through.
