What is happening? Is being a girl jinxed? A 17 year old Pakistani girl committed suicide in Karachi because her parents Mohammad Hussein, Yasmin, and 8 year old brother were detained by Indian Authorities for visa forgery charges. They had come to India to visit a family in March but as they were imprisoned they could not reach home in time.
Meanwhile out of his six daughters, 17 year old college student Saba got so distressed at the continued detention of her parents and brother that she consumed poison, despite medical help she could not be saved.
As per the Pakistani authorities Saba was under great tension at the continued detention of her parents and also the family had little resources to support themselves.
The Hong Kong based Asian Human Rights Commission has condemned the creation of such situations which end in such drastic steps. As per AHRC there are nearly 61 Pakistanis in Indian jails including children, who have been put behind the bars for incomplete paperwork. It appealed to the Prime Minister to look in this matter and requested him for early release of such prisoners.
Meanwhile the younger sisters of deceased Saba have little means of support. They are mentally disturbed and are crying for their parents.
Have the political conditions deteriorated to such stage that their cry for help will go unanswered?
