Not knowing your alphabets can land you in Coma

It is what happened with 11 year old Shanoo. Not being able to recite English alphabets enraged her teacher so much that she banged her head against the table and made her stand in the scorching sun for two hours after which the poor child fainted and was found in this condition by her younger sister who by the way studies in the same school. She informed her mother and now Shanoo is in coma in the hospital battling for her life.

A few days ago some children from the primary school again run by Government were beaten up brutally just because they were making noise just before they were to be served with their mid day meal.

The tragic part is all these incidents took place in the national Capital. The teacher and the Principal both have been placed under suspension for Shanoo’s incidence.

Why do such acts of untamed violence take place repeatedly. One of the reason being perhaps the guilty of several incidents in the past have not been punished or perhaps they have been let off just by giving a warning that every teacher knows that he or she will get away lightly even if she murders a poor defenseless kid.

The Government is urging parents to send their kids to schools to get education but such incidences are a huge deterrent for all parents.

Obviously even I would prefer to keep my child uneducated but safe at home and not educated but maimed for life by sending her to such school.

It is high time that Government gives such exemplary punishment to such sadistic teachers that everyone would think twice before handing out any type of corporal punishments on every trivial issue.

When I was studying in school, I was thought ”Teachers” are like god, now iam helplessly thinkin is this true?

Many instances like this is making children to dropout more from schools.

In future I would not send my kid. I can proudly say I can give my kid every aspects of education by myself.

How can such teachers teach children to behave when they themselves don’t know how to??

Why are not laws applied strictly in this country? Why not strict actions are taken against such teachers so that the ones in future dare not do this?

It’s the fault of our education system. Teachers don’t understand the children’s psychology and treat them as machines.

You are right Gaurav but we can make them learn how to understand the phsycology of a child.

Teaches should be given hard core training before they are given permission to enter this profession. They should be beaten hard and told that this is how it hurts when you get beaten up, so better not do this to the kids.

Everyone is busy suppressing week. Teachers let their personal frustrations easily out on children as they can’t retaliate. Must be very proud after bashing 5 year or 8 year old

A very sad news is coming in. Poor Shanoo lost the battle.May her young and innocent soul rest in peace and our heartfelt sympathies with the family. The errant teacher is absconding. She should be brought to justice as soon as possible. It seems that this monster kept a brick on Shanoo’s back as a form of punishment.

Our teacher educators are not trained well to adjust with classroom situations nad thus arise such painful incidences....Shanoo is no more with us but she has left a question in everyones mind related to education...are we competent enough to educate our young ones...May her soul rest in peace...

We can’t blame even the teacher. The whole system is guilty. Why can’t we train the teacher to teach according to the children’s interest? The teachers also feel the pressure of showing the good results. Their motive is not bad but they are not trained enough to deal with the children.
