Mothers are always loving, caring and are ready to safeguard their kids at any cost seems to be the idea that nearly everyone has for a mother.

But this mother is different. She is Laura Jane Vestuto of Clapton, East London. She is now 28 but she was only a year younger last September when she lost her 20 months old toddler son Renzo who was hospitalised for breathing problems.

The reason why this normal infant developed breathing problems is horrifying. The loving mother Laura that she was gave antidepressant pills prescribed to her to her baby. She lovingly crushed them and fed them in his juice and milk, the only reason for this heinous act was she wanted that the baby should sleep and not disturb her.

Not only that she had been giving him adult painkillers in the same manner for weeks. When she ran out of the pills she got them prescribed at seven times last year not for herself but to make her life easier for herself.

Poor baby Renzo had ten times the safe adult dose of antidepressant in his system.

Just to make life easier for herself, being selfish and self centered she betrayed the trust of motherhood. An infant is totally dependent on his mother for everything and his baby mind accepts and knows what his mother will do will be for his own good
But this instinctive feeling of absolute trust was betrayed in this case.

Laura has been sentenced to six years in jail for her selfish act. At first she had tried to throw the blame on her husband and her own mother.

Some mothers are aberrations and Laura is one of the worst kind.
