Morbid Sense Of Humour

Janet Bryant, nursery nurse working in the nursery in Gateshead,Tyne and Wear was diagnosed with having breast cancer in March 2003.She was married and had a 14 year old son.

She had to undergo mastectomy that also double with the removal of both her breasts. After undergoing the trauma, pain and the stress of the devastating operation ,she also had to face the breakdown of her 24 year old marriage.

But while she was undergoing all the mental and physical trauma, she received a Christmas gift from her lady boss,Susan Thompson.a pair of fake plastic breasts, perhaps the boss thought it would cheer Janet up.It did not,in fact she was very hurt at the insensitive gift. The feeling of compassion, was totally missing. She expected a little understanding as from woman to woman.

That was not all. When she later joined her job,the insensitive boss had real demeaning comments like oh I have dropped a boob and keep abreast of things. It must be very hurting to say the least. As Janet had her back muscles removed and with less upper body strength she also had to face comments on her ability to lift children and equipments.

All this discrimination was not there before her ailment.Ultimately she was sacked amid allegations that she had breached child protection rules.

Spunky Janet did not take it lying down. She went to the employment tribunal and now finally she has been awarded a compensation of nearly 15000/- pounds for in compensation for unfair dismissal, discrimination and hurt feelings.

As for the unsympathetic and insensitive boss it was a surprise for her that Janet felt hurt at the “Oh so imaginative and funny Christmas gift” after all she had also sent one more employee a toilet paper roll because she suffered from irritable bowels syndrome, she did not offended by it.

But Mrs. Susan Thompson,Janet has gone through double mastectomy it is a terrible thing for any woman and than to present her with fake plastic breasts is to tell her that now she is an incomplete woman and to remind someone of the disability is height of insensitivity, isn’t it.

How would you have reacted if God Forbid you were in Janet’s shoes.Just Think It Over.

What she had to go through is terrible but with the plastic breasts on, at least she could have regained a little confidence outside home by not giving abnormal look to the strangers.

is it the most terrible thing?
lots of people are still living without one eye or without both....lots of people are still living without limbs...hands..in dirty slums...I have seen most terrible sides of human fate...it is nothing compare with them..she must forget about those..spend time with family ...that is important to avoid trauma and stress. She is old enough so she does not need to worry for this.
One year ago I had T.B...part of lungs destroyed which can’t be healed(I never smoke)..Doctor rescued (fully rescued???) just early stage of cancer..I used to do lots of excercises..i was just fitness freak..now I can’t do push-ups!!! That is life!!!

When you cancer reaches last stage, then you'll realize her pain...

but you would be old enough to not to worry.
