Killed For Trying To Be A Good Mother

Screwdriver, broken beer bottle, kitchen knives and to top it all a solid iron press. All this was used to knock,stab her 24 times so that she died a torturous death.

Kiran Kapoor was a loving and strict mother who always used to object to her wayward ways of her only daughter Sakshi. Sakshi was not good in studies so naturally her parents were worried about her future. They sent her to a good school just like her brother and when she showed no interest in her academics got her trained to be a nursery teacher.

Sakshi was working as a kindergarden teacher, She was allegedly reprimanded by her mother for small things , for her careless ways. This may have been one of the reason why she hated her mother.

Sakshi reportedly had many boyfriends.On that fateful day Kiran was supposed to attend a religious meeting which should have gone on for nearly three hours but which got over early. When Kiran reached home she found the main door locked from inside.Using her duplicate key she entered from backdoor and was shocked to find her daughter in a compromising position with one boy, the same she had strictly ordered Sakshi not to keep any relations with.

She was naturally very angry and started shouting,unable to quieten her , Sakshi’s boyfriend first knocked her down with a solid press iron, than both of them stabbed her 24 times with screwdriver, beer bottles and kitchen knives till she was near death.

The inhuman daughter then ransacked the house to cook up a story of a robbery.She gave some valuables to her boyfriend to make the robbery look real and told him to run away. Than she cut the wrist of her dying mother to make it look as if robbers had attacked her mother.

She also rang up her father and then the police and told them a story as how she hide behind the sofa and was afraid to come out when her mother was being attacked.

But now everything is out in open. Police found many loopholes in her story and finally she was nabbed. She has confessed to her crime but she is behaving like a hardened criminal with no remorse whatsoever for the gory murder of her own mother.

Here there is no reason to believe that this girl was deprived of anything just for being a girl child.Just because her mother wanted the best for her she used to scold her,surely there is nothing wrong in that.

My sympathies are with the father and brother of this girl who lost wife and mother respectively but now for their whole life they have to live with a stigma of their daughter and sister being a murderess of her own mother.

If we see from girl's angle then we find that there are thousands of children who are constantly been instructed by their parents. We know that parents always try to be protective but children take it as interference. This can be also called a generation gap.

And when this gap increases to a limit, children generally become bold or totally submit. Some commit suicide but this case is one of a kind, where girl murdered her mother.

Very sad, but has to be tackled at the basic human psychology level.

@Ekta,

If the victim was a father, you feminists and your media would have called it ”attempted rape” and ”murder in self-defence”. Note that women can commit the same crimes as men. Its not one of a kind. It is quite common but gets suppressed.

This is a clear example to show that women can indulge in the same crimes as men. Society still being traditional with women, sympathises with women criminals. If the victim here was the father, the society and media would have blamed the father. They would have said that the father tried to rape her and she defended herself. Its a big bad world out there! Society is stupid to sympathise with women unconditionally. Social reforms are needed very badly.

Your heading is biased. Only because mother got killed, she gains all the sympathy. The girl was bound to develop hatred for her mother as she was every time being restricted and instructed. Think!!

Parenting is an art. Every human being needs a personal space.

@Athena,

This is India and not the west. Here, the values and traditions are a little different. Maybe, in the west, there are no rules for kids and no parenting at all after a certain age. In India, there are some traditional values. No mother would tolerate her daughter sleeping with her bf in her own house. Perhaps in the west, mothers would see daughters having sex with their bfs, while they take turns. But your comment seems to suggest that murder is right in this case.

Where did i justify the killing?

I said people should be given space and children are supposed to be tackled with love and has to be taken in confidence. Home is not an army training camp where we need discipline in every thing. She was a 26 yr old female, not 16.

Why don't you people use your brains and think with a logic?

Its tragic that the woman died.

And westerners aren't sex freaks, the way you people think. Come here and see that we treat is a part of life not as a mission as you Indians.

You people are top in STDs and will be top in population too. Great values! Keep it up.

@Athena,

I didn’t say that there should be no space for kids. But you are trying to compare Indian society with the west in terms of freedom. If she is 26, she would have been kicked out of her house if it was in the U.S. Why 26? At the ripe age of 16. And who can forget the number of abortions that happen in the U.S.? Its an industry by itself. Not to speak of single motherhood and fatherlessness that your society is into. Drug addiction, alocoholism and what not.

Athena: I’m here and i can see that LOL. Yes for Indians its a mission, a mission of reproduction. So far we have been quite successful in that and ofcourse we are trying to be the first. Where ever you go around the world, you will see us, not smoking pot, not as drug adicts, not as phycos, but in the intellectual field, a group of highly educated top of the class professionals.

We have a lot of deceases not just STDs, because of poverty. Obviously the statistics will show a large number of infections in a large population. Over 200 years of western invasion definitly took all our wealth away. We are working on it.

But for you, United States of Assholes, as you said, sex IS life and you are living FOR sex.

In pune sometimes back the elderly father was killed by his son for property. Pramod Majajan was killed by his brother out of personal rivalry. Now killling of mother by her daughter is the height of strange and unimaginable things likely to happen in the coming days.

How could a daughter kill her own mother? Mother's lap is like heaven in the earth for her children. The girl should be rewarded with death penalty.

This kind of daughters must be punished severly, the punishment should clean up those kind of people and it should be a lesson, i think the accused should punish with double life time imprisonment but not a death sentence, because death sentence is one day's feeling, but the jail term... & after the jail term..........then only she will realise a mother's affection.

Well this is quite unusual event that in a fit of rage a daughter had killed her mother. Either extra discipline or ignorance from the parental side have had caused such incidents in the developed countries. In India it is quite a shameful act that too from a daughter. Unexplainable in every aspect. Too much boldness or frankness in media and in entertainment industry also had make the girls and boys more aware of their relationships, parents have to have a vigil eye but they should take their wards into their confidence so that these heinous acts shouldn't be repeated again.

Isn't it natural for a person in his twenties to explore world by himself / herself? Isn't it true that in name of tradition / discipline most of Indian youth are in emotional imprisonment where they are not allowed to explore or express their feeling?

I am not justifying the action of killing someone. But to me the reason for this action is an outburst of years of suppression.

To some extent you are right. But remember, that we are a confused society. A society that is a mix of tradition and modernity. We are nowhere! If your sister sleeps with a man in your own house, what would you do?

Indian parents should think of giving independence to their kid as soon as they become adult and stop controlling their life or least don't micro manage it else it surely burst out and leads to such deplorable action

You said that easily. But don’t forget that we are a mix of western and Indian values. We have opposite values going together. If your sister or daughter were to get into a lesbian relationship, what would you do? Or, if they were to get into prostitution, what would you do? Do you call that freedom? Isn’t it freedom anyway. [I apologise for anything that I may have hurt here. Just to make you understand the confusion between tradition and modernity].

A total collapse of trust, love and several other emotions that exist between a mother and her daughter. We ought to learn a lesson from this write-up and try better ways of bringing up our children. Every parent, apart from disciplining his/her child should first and foremost teach it to be grateful. Our disciplining should never go to the extent that it backfires.

Absolutely!! Feminists don’t want women to be chaste and decent. They want women to be aggressive, indecent, immoral, bitchy and anti-traditional. When women are misguided into that lifestyle, feminists benefit - financially, socially, legally and politically. Feminists are destroying Indian society and its moral fabric.

Thanks everyone for their enlightening comments.generation gap,giving kids their own space is something which I understand and agree to, but debate on feminism, cultural difference I fail to understand.
What Sakshi did was horrible and totally unacceptable, whether she is a female and an Indian does not make any difference.
Her act is despicable even if she was a male and belonged to any other nationality

Veena, how can you not understand the link between generation gap/ freedom and cultural difference and feminism? One of the key differences between earlier generation and today’s gen X is in terms of culture. Many women want to have as many bfs as they can. This is not acceptable to earlier generations. Pre-marital sex and extra-marital sex is common and virginity is irrelevant. Regarding feminism, again, it has influenced the present generation women who want freedom, more freedom and no responsibility. They have been misguided into believing feminist theories. Ask any girl what responsibility is and she will be blank. Tradition has been destroyed by feminists and the breakdown of the marriage and family system is the evidence of this. Obviously, the mother didn’t like her daughter having 13 bfs and having sex at random. Feminists would support the girl as it suits their feminist agenda of creating a society of hooligan women, bitchy, sexy and aggressive. Feminism is the ultimate enemy of women! A society that is feminist is also morally bankrupt.

This write up only highlights the difference of opinion between a parent and an offspring which reached such unwanted heights. The article if read and understood in the right perspective, does not have anything to do with feminism. No feminist will support a girl such as this one.

Usha,

I am not referring to what the article states. You cannot see this case in isolation and within the narrow definition of ”difference of opinion”. How did such major differences come about within one’s family and between a mother and her daughter? Have you asked this question? I am explaining the factors that led to such differences within a family. I am referring to the forces in society that are creating such differences between earlier generations and today’s generation X and Y. The differences between the parent and her daughter are directly linked to the change in social values and norms between that generation and today’s generation. How did that come about? It primarily came about because of feminism and media created images of modernism. Feminism stands for absolute freedom for women, sexual freedom being a part of that. Tradition is very different from this. So, the clash within the family is a result of this. Feminism would support any lady who stands for modernity and the breakdown of tradition. Though it would not support the girl for committing murder, as such, it would certainly support the girl on the pretext that her circumstances forced her to do that. Ultimately, the breakdown of traditional values is the aim of feminists. Anything in that direction is most welcome for feminists.

Usha,

This crime cannot and should not be read in isolation and in the narrowest perspective. You need to question the reason behind the generation gap in terms of values and social norms. Having even 1 boyfriend in our parents times was a sin of sorts. Society was too traditional then. Now, having 10 bfs and having sex with each of them, threesome, foursomes is very common and every girl does it. This behaviour, one cannot blame the girls for that. It is the neo-liberal, feminist and westernised environment that we live in today which is encouraged by the media. So, we need to look at the larger issues and unless we do that, we cannot get at the root of the problem.
