Kicked For being FAT

‘A woman across from me started kicking me and said: “Hey fattie! You should not be on the train, you need two seats”. ‘(She was) kicking me, slapping me.

‘I had probably 30 to 40 bruises over my chest and my neck. I was terrified I was going to lose my eye.

Mrs. Marsha Coupe 53 suffered this abuse when last year she was travelling home from Charring Cross London to Hayes Kent. Her ordeal has made a group of overweight women to appeal to London Mayer Boris Johnson to help reduce Fatism.

It is different in San Francisco where there is a ruling against discrimination against size. Cinemas and restaurants have to provide larger seats, and doctors are even asked to ‘respect the wishes’ of fat patients who do not want to discuss their weight.

London like other places have zero tolerance against size and fat people are physically and verbally abused when they are on streets.

This group wants London to be more like SanFrancisco. What is problematic though that if a person is overweight due to some medical problem than he should be given protection against any discrimination but if he is a couch potato and cannot bear to change his diet of junk food or lead a more active life should the Government make rules to accomadate his shortcomings.

I am sure it has more important issues to ponder upon.

Being overweight is a medical condition in and of itself and the government has a duty to protect the equality of opportunities to those who are not the norm. Or as you tend to describe them ’couch potatoes’. I think you highlight the issue with the words ”can’t be bothered’.. If a person CAN’T BE BOTHERED, or better put, not find motivation, it is a dispicable act to then perpetuate a crule and in humane act of ridicule by lable and class marginalisation. It happened with race, gender, mental health, etc. and is perpetuated by this pseudo scientific myth that if one person can alter choice patterns, then all people can.

Lest we go down the path of ’if your not normal’ of the norm, society has no responsibility to offer protection.

Everyone is individual and different.

The behavior is totally ridiculous and unacceptable. This is not a way to treat any human being. Sick!
