If you are in Britain especially in Bodmin Cornwell, beware!

Just don’t bend down to pick up that loose cobblestone lying on the roadside and try to fix it back properly in its original position or even try to make it look more artistic, you are liable to get a threatening letter from Cromwell County Council.

This happened with the Public spirited citizen, a 50 year old Jayne Bailey. The concrete island in her housing estate had loose cobble stones and the kids nearby were using these cobblestones to play with while the bigger loose ones were becoming a safety hazard.

So taking the matter in her hands Jayne removed the cobblestones and planted green plants which required minimum maintenance, now the corner is giving a green and aesthetically pleasing look appreciated by all but one.

The one not pleased by their neglected work being done by anyone else have send a letter to Jayne to replace the green plants and neat look with the previous shoddy, unkempt look all complete with loose cobblestones within 28 days. If she fails to do do they will send their contractor to do the same but Jayne will have to bear the charges. They also threatened to report her action to the Police and report her for criminal damages.

This is not the first brush of Jayne with the authorities. She cleaned up another place which was becoming a dumping yard and changed it to a place with green plants. Than also she was told to replace the same with the brambles and rubbish.

Jayne has no intention of staking a claim on the little island but she is not prepared to live with a crumbling mess with rubbish and weed.

The Council now clarifies that it is with the people who would like to spruce up public place but there should be an agreement and with their partnership.

That is fine, you do not do your job properly and instead of appreciating a well done work you threaten to take action against her.

A clear cut case of Bureaucratic Madness.
