I thought it happened only in movies especially Bollywood movies where many a times you see the hero or heroine killing the whole gang of criminals single handedly without any ammunition and still they are allowed to walk free honorably of course while the judiciary applauds them for doing something which the police had failed to do.

At a hotel in the city of Badong, had to suffer unwanted sexual advances from a Government Official sometimes in mid May. To save herself she stabbed him to death in what she said was self defence.
She was also accused of injuring a second official who had made unwanted sexual advances.

Deng was detained first on suspicion of murder because she had given the statement that the man had hit her repeatedly after she refused his advances.

Here Internet came all out in her support. There was massive public pressure on the officials ans they had to charge her with the lesser offense of intentional assault punishable by death.

But due to continuous public pressure from internet campaign where she was hailed as a heroine for standing up to the very powerful Government Official and refusing to give into his demands knowing very well it would be dangerous for her.

So giving into public pressure Deng was freed on Tuesday. She was freed on the grounds of diminished responsibility. She was found guilty but the judge said that the court had decided not to punish her as she had used excessive force in the act of self defense after that she had surrendered to the police. They also admitted that the two officials involved in the incident had made a “Major Mistake”. Such judgments are like a breath of fresh air.
