First the market was flooded by books by Australian Cricketers turned authors and after seeing the success of Gilchrist’s book in which he went ballistic against Indian Cricketers and the retaliation .With all that controversy came the moola. There were many cricketer authors who followed the same path Ponting,Shane Warne and all.
Now the veteran journalist Debashish Dutta is bringing out a book on cricket and has got Javed Miandad to contribute. But instead of cricket idols it is the turn of Bollywood idols to take a beating.
The Former Pakistani Captain Javed Miandad has tried the same tactics, he has vented his ire on the Bollywood Idol Shahrukh Khan.Remember the time before IPL2 when the theory of multi captaincy was floated round by Buchanan and supported by Sharukh, Sunil Gavasker had slammed that theory for its impracticality.
Obviously Shahrukh being the owner of Kolkatta Knight Riders could not take the slight and he gave a suggestion that any one who wants to criticize should become an owner of a cricket team first than they are free to experiment.
It is this statement which has riled Miandad. He has written in the book that he could not tolerate SRK insulting Sunil Gavasker while paying Sunil tributes on his sixtieth Birthday. He said that insulting such a great cricketer was not acceptable, infact Shahrukh by his verbal volleys had directly insulted Gavasker and indirectly the other cricketers. He was all praises for the sportsmenship shown by Gavasker in not reacting to the verbal assault by Shahrukh. He even advised SRK to learn this from Sunil.
He also wondered at the fact that despite being such a great Cricketer Gavasker has yet to earn the respect of the Rich and famous those being the Bollywood.
Wasim Akhtar has rued the fact that he could not dismiss Gavasker even once during a test match.
Former Captain Imran Khan has praised the icon by saying he knew his limitations and was a masterful batsman with a great temperament.

It has become a fashion these days to wright a book on cricket and make it controversial. Media shouldn't highlight such people any more.
