I think it was Kapil Dev who shed tears on the national TV, That time it was a novelty, people were shocked, embarrassed and plainly disgusted with such a public show of weakness in a great sportsman. The TV channels at that time had milked dry the historic occasion, after all it was rare event earth shaking the baring of raw emotions , but I am sure Kapil Dev must have squirmed in his seat afterward and the reaction of others after this incident must be really embarrassing one for him.
Then came Annu Kapoor, crying at the drop of hat,if some one sang a sad song on his programme he cried, if someone sang a patriotic song he cried that even a melodramatic songs when the hero leaves the heroine for going abroad out came the tears, there was no end to it and frankly bit of a drag.
Now Himesh, Shekhar Kapur and latest Bindu the one on Big Boss 3 have shed copious tears for trivial matters, in fact crying on TV has become so common that no-one pays any attention except one becomes very irritated at the crocodile tears.
Latest to join, nay jump on the crying band-wagon is the Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa. he was shown shedding tears no not for some outstanding feat but for his colleagues, the one who had to resign so that he could remain Chief Minister. Sobbingly he told the Kannada channel Suvarna, that for his selfish ends he was forced to ditch those who were his trusted people, be it Shobha or Baligar. He was quite right in saying that even God will not forgive him for this.
He even had the audacity to tell the people of Karnataka that since he was busy in saving his CM’s post he was not able to pay attention to the flood situation in his home state. It is really disgusting the way our politicians are manipulating and playing with the emotions of people for their own selfish motives
