Indian Navy has shown the world once again after Operation Pawan in Sri Lanka and Operation Cactus in Maldives that it is one of the best in the world.
Only a few days after its deployment in the Gulf Of Aden to curb sea piracy by Somalian pirates. it rescued not one but two ships from being hi-jacked, one being Saudi Arabian carrier MV NCC Thihama, having five Indian crew members on board and other MV Jag Aranav, a 38,265 tn bulk carrier belonging to the Great Eastern Shipping Company in Mumbai having 20 Indian crew members on board.
First the INS Tabar the warship deployed by Indian navy received an SOS from Saudi vessel that it was surrounded by pirates in five speed boats who were attempting to board the ship and were heavily armed. In true Hollywood style the commandos from Tabar boarded an armed helicopter and attacked the pirates, forcing them to flee. The ship was then escorted to safe waters.
As this operation was going on, the Tabar received another SOS from Jag Aranav. The commandos again geared up for another operation. They reached there in helicopter and opened fire on the pirates, who abandoned the ship and sped away. This vessel was also escorted to safer waters.
The Marine Commando Force(MARCO) is a special force which conducts raids and counter terrorists in a maritime environment. It is capable of para dropping into the sea with full combat loads. Their aim is to safeguard our sovereign assets. Well Done MARCOS, Keep It Up.
