No I am not saying it. This seems to be the thinking of Ghaziabad Police when they arrested a minor daughter of Ashutosh Asthana, an accused in PF scam. His wife is also behind the bars for nearly 20 months.

Asthana was arrested in last February for allegedly being involved in a 7 crore PF scam which supposedly had big shots involved in it. Asthana unfortunately died last Saturday in Dasna Jail in Ghaziabad during imprisonment.

His wife has not been granted bail.

The couple has a daughter Sakshi who was 16 years old when this scam broke out. Her pet name is Chanchal. Now the Police wanted a male accused Chanchal in this case and ended up arresting this minor. She was kept behind bars for three months before being released after a flimsy plea by the police that this being a high profile case, the police was under pressure and there were some people lodged in Dasna Jail for at least three months and later they were released.

She was supposed to appear for her tenth boards but due to this stigma no school was ready to give her admission, now she is continuing her studies through correspondence.

Poor Sakshi, with both her parents behind bars, and loosing her father, it is surely a very traumatic experience. She was confined without any reason and got permanent stigma unnecessarily.
She cannot forget the time she had spent behind the bars in the female barracks. Her relatives pleaded with the authorities that she was a minor as proven by her school records but no one was ready to listen to them.

The lost innocence cannot be brought back but surely the guilty must be punished which might be a small solace.
