I had not intended to do a writeup on the so called detention of the VVIP Shahrukh Khan because I thought more than enough publicity had been given to a non issue.

But yesterday it was the limit.Every channel barring few movie channels and others, it was the movie-star who dominated the screen. Each and every channel had jumped into the band wagon called Shahrukh, after all Movie stars and Cricketers are the two parallel Demi Gods of India.

Everywhere it was the same old story, “I have no objection being detained but do it for all”.The best part was when he was asked about any acquaintance he could refer in USA , I think that was the most hurting query, for the simple reason that was like asking Bill Gates to prove his identity.

Shahrukh went on and on as to how people were taking photographs and autographs still those ignoramus security personnel did not recognize him.That was the main bone of contention, of not being recognized, being treated like a commoner shifted from one room to another, made to wait all minus the adulation he is used to getting everywhere, that was a sure let down.

He went on saying that he respected the laws and is a law abiding citizen. He also said he will be visiting USA again, obviously most of his movies are being shot there and he would like to remain noncontroversial.

The most irritating part was when politicians jumped in the fray. AmarSingh he is recuperating in Singapore, obviously Indian hospitals are beneath his touch, it seems they cannot provide proper medical treatment to our patriotic politicians. he blamed Shahrukh for blowing the whole issue out of proportion just for publicity.

Ambika Soni nearly cried when she heard this news and wanted an eye for an eye. Best of all were those handful of protestors who with a poster of Shahrukh took out a protest rally, by the way who are these people who are so free and can be mustered up at an hour’s notice to protest.that too on a holiday don’t they have something worthwhile to do.

Publicity gimmick or not Sharukh got what he wanted. But what about the real deserving person Dr. Kalaam he was searched in our own country where he was the first citizen once.There was just a small token protest from a very small segment and that was it.No interviews,no 24X7 coverage.
