Breaking news!

No one not even a child must be unaware of the “Breaking News” caption which appears with sickening regularity and keeps on giving the same news over and over again from morning till night.

It is not the breaking news but the news is at focus here. I remember seeing character assassination of so many normal happy people who have now changed into mental wrecks, thanks to the media overdrive.

Remember Uma Khurana a Maths teacher of a Government school. She was made a victim of string operation by an unscruplous wanna be reporter. Her life in fact her whole family’s life took a nose dive, she was fortunate that the real truth was revealed shortly afterwards, but what was missing was the over enthusiastic media which before was beaming the scenes of Uma being manhandled by crowd 24X7 did not bother to bring the innocent Khurana in their studios and let her clear her name. That would have cleared her name and also everyone would have appreciated the intergrety of the media.

When the Oil Sector went on strike in January the hype was created by showing the petrol stations teaming with people eager to tank up and only the version of Mr. Murli Deora was being shown over and over again as to emphasise the sturborness of the Oil Sector employees no one bothered to give out their version. When MP’s, MLA’s give themselves a raise no one says a word, When the Judiciary refuses to give details of their assets it is fine,so why can’t a working class demand a raise, but there were no takers.

When Modern School justly said that a school is a school and it cannot be expected to combine the duties of a Hospital the media gave it a twist the Breaking News” being the school is not a Hospital.

Admitted that anyone can be tempted into Breaking news which can improve the TRP but once when the actual facts are known don’t the falsely implicated victim deserve at least some airtime to clear their name or put forward their side.

Such an action will go a long way creating a credible media

In Indian electronic media, breaking news is not the fresh news. It is a news to break the attention of viewers from other news and to focus on one!

Breaking news most of time will be ”Break up” of celebrity couples. Which is not at all a NEWS according to me.

Credibility of the media is at stake. Whatever media cooking up the story and project something will not happen. The best example is exit poll opinion and such other things. Media have a specific agenda to please selected section. We have to get paid for watching the TV and reading the specific newspaper. We are watching for ’their benefit’ and not ’ours’.

The media is not at fault because WE made these Breaking News thing so popular by showing our interest and eagerness.

For instance, the header of your post, ”Breaking News”, gives absolutely no idea about the content of your post, then too you got 40+ stars and 5 comments (including mine). Why???

Because its our eagerness and curious nature that pinched us to click n browse through your post.

The day we get over this curiosity, the media will stop doing this shit!

Exactly! This is what i say again and again that media is not to be blamed. They show what people like to watch.

Stop watching such programs and they’ll stop making them.

Its not rocket science people, that we can’t understand.

People who have some sense never appreciate such things on the news channels. I've observed that its that typical category, who loves to watch dramatic version of news.

First of all Thanks to all for having gone through my article.
By the comments received I seem to understand that the discussion is taking a different route.
As in my article I would reteriate the point that after Breaking News for any incidence, there is a Media Trial.Any person who was there is deemed to be the culprit prima facae.
But after investigation if that person is proved to be innocent I feel it is the moral duty of the same media which sensationalised his alleged crime should broadcast his innocence also.
Also when there are two parties involved there is bound to be two opposite views why air only one view why not both.
Ant news on the electronic media is registered immediately by the viewer, keeping mum on non guilty issue is not
a fair deal
