A lovely 17 year old Aakruti lost her life, just because the school authorities were simply indifferent and casual. They were more concerned with the rules which they made should not be broken.
Three days ago Aakruti a known asthamatic suffered an attack of breathlessness in her posh, private school. As per rules she was not allowed to ring up her parents. The upmarket school did not had proper medical facilities to give her proper first aid.
She rang up with her friend’s mobile and told them about her condition. The school gave her oxygen and waited for her parent’s car to arrive, instead of calling for the ambulance. Precious moments were wasted to reach the hospital nearby. The height of negligence was when they took off the oxygen mask when she was in the car, after all it was school property and how could they allow it to be taken out of the school.
While the poor girl gasped for breath her car was stuck in a traffic jam and the worst happened. Aakruti lost her life in the car in her friend’s arms, without any rhyme or reason, just because somewhere the distinction between the rules and humanity was blurred, the zest to follow them was greater than the feeling of compassion for a dying young girl.
Now the Principal is trying save her face. She even called the media to prove that the school was not at fault. But things took an unexpected turn and the students were up in arms against the callousness.
There is a wide spread protest demanding the accountability of the school. As we are gaining more of materialistic things why are we forgetting the common and most human value, namely compassion?
