Well, the third phase of elections is over, the number of voters keeps on dwindling despite the storming of the media by the famous personalities urging people to vote, but the Sun God is not relenting, not even a wee bit, so many voters are preferring to stay out off the scorching sun and not taking any risk of getting a heat stroke.
But now the main point, I see the Great Indian Election as the true Reality Show, the aspiring MPs being the contenders and the voter being the judges. Just like in any reality show the participants are in an overdrive to show their best side, not letting the smile slip, nor folding and waving of hands, bending double with gratitude for one’s vote.
And the Judges oh, they are enjoying the whole play which is being enacted solely for their benefit. They can be sarcastic like Annu Malik or Simon Cowell, the candidate will take all the criticism smilingly and agree with each and every point, because once the privilege of voting is taken away these judges will once again be delegated to the role of the common man, who is forever complaining, and can never be satisfied. So why bother even listening to them?
The easy approachability of the candidates will vanish the moment one will cast his or her vote. We will see the victory procession of the winner but now with the totally changed scenario, the bent head will be laden with marigold or roses garlands and obviously he will be waving not folding hands and we will be standing on the sidelines.
Just as in reality show once the winner is announced, the judges loose their importance so will the voter. I was watching TV and saw the way, Mr. Laloo Prasad Yadav scolded his security man in full glare of the media just because his rifle touched Mr. Yadav, the polish is wearing thin or is totally rubbed off. A trailer of the days which are coming ahead.
