A Human Corpse Left To Rot For Two Years!

You read it right, it was the body of a 22 year old man Chukkan Nishad, who was possibly murdered which had to suffer this indignity. And where at the roof of a police station.

Worse, this atrocity took place in a police station in Azamgarh, in Ahraula Thana. The poor boy was murdered in July 2007. The police was unable to apprehend the culprits and after taking charge of his body they were supposed to send it for a DNA test in July 2007 but the Uttar Pradesh Government reportedly declined to sanction money Rs 26000/- to conduct the test.

So what did our compassionate policemen do, they simply bundled the body in a gunny bag and threw it on the roof of the police station, out of sight is out of mind you see, so what if it rots open to the mercies of the elements, they could not care less.

Since the unfortunate boy belonged to a very poor family, his family members kept on visiting the thana every week but the police refused to return the body as the so called investigation was on.

Three days ago, after over two years, Chukken’s father Sadharan luckily met a “sympathetic” policeman, a rare species looking at the circumstances who led him to the rooftop and showed him the tattered gunnybag which contained the remains of his son, a skeleton, since the flesh was eaten away by the elements. It seems that the non living elements took pity on the abandoned corpse and stripped away the flesh,so that it would remain undisturbed by maggots and at least the skeleton could be preserved. Now the police is completing the formalities to release the remains to the bereaved family.

As usual the blame game about how I am new, I know nothing, is going on and as usual an inquiry has been ordered.

But what about the last two years of untold suffering which the poor family had to undergo, just because of lack of funds, and one shudders to visualize the look on the face of the father and the feelings he must have felt when he saw the remains of his son’s body in this condition.

The worst part is this horrifying deed was done by so called normal human beings who unfortunately have power.

It was not lack of funds but lack of intention. Had it been the body of a rich man, they would have investigated the case by now...

Sir.... you should have added ”and given a very decent burial to him”.

One can expect such shamlessness only in India. The corrupt and greedy enjoy and the poor masses suffer. The police and politicians are a pack of wolves.

If parents had paid bribe, the body would have released immedately. Government should publish the rate list of bribes, so that it is easy for the common man to deal with these public servants.

This was a shocking news for me. How can police authorities treat a dead body like this putting it on police station terrace. This shows their scant respect for human beings.. just cant believe this.

should we discuss compensation from both Police and the government for the bereaved family? They have suffered and endured so much!
