A Four Year Old Gangster!

Parents all over the world can vouch for one thing. A four year old is an innocent child who does not know anything about the big, bad world outside. He is only busy in his own world with his toys, friends and obviously his main support his parents. he is still afraid of dark, not allowed to cross the road alone, in short he is still a baby.

Well, it seems that our UP Police have drastically different ideas about the four year old. They think he can fire on police party, lift trucks and jeeps and sell stolen vehicles. Quite an accomplishment at the tender age of four.

Shiv Prasad Yadav is a dreaded gangster capable of doing all the above. He is a mature grown up person and is a resident of Khandawa Bharatpur village. He was arrested by the UP police without verifying his credentials and sent to jail. He came out of the jail after securing bail on 31-3-2001. After that he went missing and has not responded to the police summons. The police has slapped the Gangster Act against him.

When the Police party went to his village, they could not find him so they send summons to another Shiv Prasad, but this Shiv Prasad was only four year old that time and the son of a daily wage labourer.

Obviously the whole family was frightened and they responded to the summons on 23-3-2005. From that day till now poor Shiv Prasad is coming to the court once every month and now he is being tried for four other cases, one being firing on Police party.

The court was first to realise the mistake and has ordered the jaunpur police to submit a report about the age of accused but till date there has been no response, nor the investigating officer has bothered to appear before the court to clarify this matter. Now 20th September has been fixed next hearing.

A tearful Dasrath Yadav is a harrassed father who has to miss his daily wages to bring the now 12 year old Shiv Prasad to the court every month. And innocent Shiv Prasad is attending the court religiously and in the eternal hope that perhaps he this time he would be freed from the ridiculous charges. He has to miss school every time he has to attend the court.

A Gangster in school uniform, will the judiciary and bureaucracy sit up and take note.

I agree that the judicial system is based on evidence but they are humans and can apply logic as well. Can't they see its a 4yr boy and is troubling the poor family unnecessarily. All of them seem to be behaving like bunch of foolish people.

This is perhaps the best way to spoil a life. Weldone UP Police, you really deserve a applause for doing this act.

Is our system so badly designed and so currupt that it cannot identify the innocent level in person from his or her age. Recently I had a big discussion with one of my friend who is a very senior advocate in my town and I was shocked to listen to his statement that Judiciary is the most corrupt department in our system. Then comes Army, Bureaucrates, Piliticians and Media.

Veena ji, we are just the puppets being controled by these five fingers.
