Are we going back to those medievial times where the honour of family was above anything. Does our education lacks the basic teaching, that is of compassion.

It happened no not in India ,nor Middle East and not in any of those conservative states. It happened in Phoenix. An innocent 8 year old Liberian girl was enticed by a stick of chewing gum to come behind the deserted shed and four boys took turns to rape her,age of the three boys, yes, hold your breath 9,10,13 and 14.
All the five kids are from West African of Liberia and they are all refugees.

There is no end of the trauma suffered by the young girl.The father of the girl blamed her for what had happened to her and told the case worker and Police officer in her presence to take her away.He did not want her.

In some African Countries the females who have been raped are shunned by their families and they are blamed for being at the wrong place at the wrong time or simply they are blamed for enticing men.The family is more concerned about protecting the family name or the community name. They are not concerned about the pain and trauma the victim is going through.

Especially in this case the victim is just a young girl,who was taken to a deserted shed and the boys also of the same age group caught hold of her and took turns in assaulting her which went on for nearly 10 to 15 minutes. They attcked her like a pack of wolves who show no mercy whatsoever for the victim.Officers responding to an emergency call found the poor child partly undressed shouting and crying with pain and the boys running away.

All the four rapists have been identified and arrested. The child has been sent to the Child Protective Services. This girl deserves all the support at this traumatic time of her life and the best one is from her own family which unfortunately is missing.The feeling of being unwanted and guilt will always remain with her throughout her whole life.

The Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sir leaf has been working hard in the direction to remove the stigma of being sexually assaulted by publicly acknowledging that she was a victim of attempted rape during the time when her country was facing civil war.

Still much work needs to be done in this direction seeing the reaction of the father.
