12 year old mother

Blame it on illiteracy or more correctly on poverty. The twelve year old rag picker in Jaipur whose only concern must have been to earn enough to satisfy her hunger on day to day basis has one additional problem, her one day old daughter.

The poor girl (poor in every sense materialistic or otherwise) simply did not have any clue that she could be pregnant, leave aside the medicare one is supposed to receive when one is expecting.

Even her family was in dark about her condition, apparently nothing was different, it was only day before when she complained of stomach ache and gave birth to her daughter on the roadside and her parents came to know. She was brought to the ‘Mahila Hospital” in an emergency ambulance from the roadside.

As per the Doctors, she is hardly 12/13 years old. Both the mother and the daughter are doing fine. As per the girl, she was married to a boy and stayed with him for 45 days a few months back, but her father says that she did stay with a boy but he is not sure whether that boy is the father of the baby girl.

The illiterate family is totally bewildered with the hospital care, the media glare, and the police. All these things are totally new for them and no, they do not have any plans for future.

This is what is known as stark and raw poverty. The whole family is so busy foraging the garbage for next meal that they have no time to even think about other things in life. Who is to be blamed for such pitiable plight, surely not the girl she is too young to know about the ways of life, the parents, again no, satisfying hunger is the only issue.

Then we as a society can be blamed because despite there being so many Government schemes and NGOs in place, still such incidences are taking place and we are totally engrossed in our own pursuits except that we will read this as shocking news item and turn over the page to you know what. Out of sight out of mind. Jai Ho!

Yes,one must be ashamed over such happenings. But to say that ”life in third world countries are beyond hell” is unfair. Most of the crimes in developing countries are result of either ignorance or poverty. However,in so-called most progressive countries many much more barbaric and heinous crimes are taking place. You can never stop crimes altogether from any part of the world be it third world or United states.

Excerpts of an incident that rocked Austria some years back :

” Josef Fritzl was convicted of homicide, rape, incest and other charges Thursday. Whether he receive just punishement is another matter, but he was sentenced to life in a psychiatric ward for enslaving his daughter Elisabeth, raping her more than 3,000 times over 24 years, fathering her seven children, and letting a newborn son die in captivity.

Other peole in Austria like Josef Leitner, who rented a room in the same house in Amstetten where Fritzl built his basement prison, want to put it all behind them.

He said, “On the day I heard what happened to Elisabeth, my breath stood still. Today I can breathe normally for the first time again.”

Why do you start comparing India's situation with other countries......it is not gonna help us in any way.......clean your garbage rather than showing the neighbor his dustbin

It’s not a comparison.I am merely stating the fact that crime is not something related with only third word countries.

The term third world is itself a derogatory term used in dubious way by the Western countries. More about it :

We are so used to thinking of new life as a positive thing and to consider the potential and the opportunities that come with it. It's terrible to have such a feeling of inevitable doom about a child not even borne but that is exactly what I do feel.

There are some days when I am ashamed of, and shamed by, what goes on in my country.

12 or 13 year olds who get pregnant testify the moral and social degeneration of society.

The UK has a shameful record of little girls getting pregnant and now India

Lot of people say its news...express their surprises.... unfortunately we are not at all nderstanding the reason for the current situation in our country.
We are so big in population ...... if every singl educated person takes responcibility of an child from poor family to help them in education,(for this we no need to spend money, all we need to do is ensure that the child is admitted in any goverment school, & guide him/her constantly till the child becomes self sustained)It need only little time in a day......

Yes its a very sad situation in the third world countries.

Yet if all the money wasted on wars and the selfish polititians pursuits, this money could be spent on education and ending poverty, just a little bit of it would go a long way to help our fellow human beings.

Thought:
’When someone shares something of value with you and you benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others.’ - Chinese Proverb.

Our peoples are categorized with deferent categories , so the high level peoples never mind others, then the poor peoples main issue only meal , so until our high level people not interesting to serve poor people then such problems still continue…
